Tired of McLaren's domination from the two previous years, the Williams FW11 was designed to win in 1986. Armed with one of the most powerful Honda V6 turbo engines at the time, the car also had great aerodynamics. However, with the team's two drivers Piquet and Mansell taking a point off of each other, and Frank Williams's accident, they couldn't stop the professor Alain Prost from taking his 2nd championship.
The following year in 1987 Nelson Piquet finally won the championship with the FW11B. And then Honda switched to McLaren for 1988...
