The Benetton B186 was the first ever Formula 1 car designed and built by Benetton after they had purchased the Toleman team at the end of 1985. This was their first attempt at building an F1 car after sponsoring several teams during previous years. And it was a great effort. Built during the crazy turbo era of the 1980s, this is one of the fastest F1 cars ever built. Its BMW engine could generate 1,350 BHP! In the hands of its drivers Gerhard Berger and Teo Fabi, the car took 2 pole positions, with Berger winning at the Mexican Grand Prix and finishing on the podium at San Marino.
This was a great start for a team which would go on to win 2 back-to-back championships with Michael Schumacher just 8 years later in 1994 and 1995.
