This was a heavily revised car developed by Ferrari after a major shakeup in the engineering and design team. The car debuted at the 1973 Spanish Grand Prix but unfortunately was not a competitive machine. This leads to Jacky Ickx leaving Ferrari mid-season to join McLaren so that he could contest at the Nurburgring, his favorite race because Ferrari had planned to skip that race.
Further revisions of the car resulted in the 312B3-74 and finally, the iconic and dominant 312T which landed Niki Lauda his first-ever Formula 1 World Championship in only his 2nd year with Ferrari. Niki loved the car and said it was one of the best cars he drove. He called 1975 the "unbelievable year." R.I.P Niki.
